Lisa from @firstlightfarm asked her firefighter friend how we can show we can show gratitude. He said homemade treats would be awesome, “anything that helps give us more fuel and calories while we’re working on the line” would be excellent.
So until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18th, for those who want to send love to the firefighters we’re collecting a giant gratitude package.
Baked goods, homemade nutrition bars, or any care package items you want to share with the firefighters from all over the US, Canada and Australia.
He mentioned they like crossword puzzle books (as they are far away from home and probably too tired to do anything else) and often are in need of deodorant.
Please attach your or your family’s picture (if you can), so they can see who is grateful for them.
Lisa is collecting these items at First Light Farm, in the wooden farm stand, 4588 Bodega Avenue, Petaluma, on the West Side and will pick them up Wednesday the 18th before dark.
Please just put whatever you have brought on the tables inside the shed starting in the morning. Lisa won’t be there, but you might see some of the friendly and hard working farm crew.
Other ideas of what to bring if you don’t have time to bake – pictures your kids made, small tokens, cards, stuff for them to do in camp, please do so. Please put and wrap any food you make in a container or plate you don’t need back.
In NO WAY, at all, should this small effort distract from anyone’s efforts to support evacuee food and supplies efforts which are so critical.
This is an effort to make gratitude visible to those who’ve supported us through this. Please share. Photo by @chlorisfloral
